Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Today is 18 December 1973. I am sending you verbal notification that you have been admitted to the grade of Neophyte of the A.·. A.·., with the privileges and rights pertaining to it, unless I received in writing your refusal of acceptance to this grade. This refusal, however, must be a conscious refusal, and not with a false feeling of modesty. Because if I judge that you are capable of functioning in this grade, that is sufficient to consider your right to it. However, the Tasks and of the grade must be voluntarily accepted by you. In case you accept this nomination, you will receive in writing, the Oath and Task of the Neophyte, and also the Oath and Task of the Probationer, and you will be qualified to accept Probationers to work in the A.·. A.·.

This decision of mine is based upon your contact with me for various years and upon your reactions during those years.

In case you accept your nomination, remember that only the books included in the curricula of "Calling the Children of the Sun" can be recommended to prospective aspirants to initiation in the A.·. A.·. For example, the only book by Dr. Jorge Adoun that is mentioned in that curricula is "From Sex to Divinity." No other book of Adoun has the necessary value to be included in the curricula.

To the good listener, a half word is sufficient.

As I still do not have in writing your acceptance to the Grade and the pertinent Tasks, I cannot yet give your orders but simply recommend the intensive, systematic and tireless practice of Liber O Vel Manus et Sagittae, especially sections 4, 5 and 6, during at least nine months. Through the practice of this book, you will conclude that the other books of Jorge Adoun and of the majority of the so-called occultists currently writing are [inaudible]. But one must personally experiment in order to evaluate how far others have something valuable to say, and where the blabber begins.

The position of Neophyte in the A.·. A.·. authorizes you to take Probationers, and to train these Probationers, however with literal agreement with the conditions established by the Oath and Task of the Probationer, which will be sent to you.

And remember that any of your activities in this sense must always be submitted to your personal Task and Oath as a Neophyte. The exercises and practices allowed to Probationers and to Neophytes are the exercises and practices of the A.·. A.·., and not those of any other initiatic organizations.

You must follow the A.·. A.·. curricula and not any other curricula, it doesn't matter how attractive or how better the practices of other curricula may appear to you. With experience and practice you will verify that practices of other curricula in general appear better because they are formulated in a more polished, pretentious, and flamboyant manner, and more full of useless self-advertisement than the A.·. A.·.instruction.

The only one, no not the only one, the only two categorical and very serious injunctions, whose disobedience lead to a total cut of contact with any initiate of the A.·. A.·. are: you cannot accept money to confer initiations in the A.·. A.·.. Second, you cannot give any advice or orientation of any kind to whomever about the invocation of the Holy Guardian Angel. This is a personal operation in which nobody — not even the Adepts of the highest grades — are capable to interfere.

Every individual, whether man or woman, must arrive at a conclusion about this operation on their own, including as to the necessary time to initiate the operation. Nobody else is authorized or capable to interfere.

If you would like to avoid errors that could be fatal in all cases, the simplest rule is to literally follow, word by word, what is written in the Oath and Task of the Probationer and in the Oath and Task of the Neophyte, always taking into consideration Liber AL and Liber OZ. If you would accept, if you would accept, I repeat, the nomination being made now, you are freed by us, I repeat, freed by us, from any necessity to openly advertise that you are a member of the A.·. A.·. , or an Initiate of the A.·. A.·., or a representative of the A.·. A.·., even in the humble and initial grade of Neophyte. You have no need to openly proclaim in any place your connection with the A.·. A.·. You are freed from this rule.

Do what thou wilt.

Remember that it is indispensable that you do not make proselytism of any type, and remember of what is written in The Book of the Law: "argue not, convert not, talk not overmuch." For those who come to you looking for contact with the O.T.O do never mention your contact with the A.·. A.·. You do not mention your contact with the A.·. A.·., unless if the persons who come to you ask voluntarily, with interest, a contact with the A.·. A.·. in which case you will have as a Task, to express that you can serve as a contact with the Order. In case, of course, you accept the nomination that is being made here.

Should you accept the nomination, you will have to choo se a name as a Neophyte of the A.·. A.·. The O.T.O. and the A.·. A.·. as two distinct Orders; the only relation between the two is that the A.·. A.·. proclaimed The Book of the Law, the Law of Thelema, and the O.T.O. accepted the Law of Thelema. For that, as you already know, the only practical connection between the two Orders is the 11th Degree to which I belong to, but am not the only Initiate of that Degree.

Therefore, you will have to establish a new magical name, completely awa y from that magical name you've chosen for your work in the O.T.O. And you will have to chose this name for your work in the A.·. A.·. The name that you will chose for your work in the A.·. A.·. can only be for the grade of Neophyte. Upon your initiation to the grade of Zelator, if you get there, you can chose another name or maintain the same. In each initiation you either chose a new name or reaffirm your previous name. It is your choice, there is no other law beyond Do what thou wilt.

Write me or record me your answer, as soon as possible, expressing your acceptance or non-acceptance of the present nomination, taking into consideration the responsibilities that it automatically and inexorably entails, in order for me to send you, in case it is necessary, the Oath of the Probationer as well as the Oath of the Neophyte, and their pertaining Tasks.

For your information, Grant, Outer Head of the Order, does not have initiation in the A.·. A.·.; he does not hold any grade of the A.·. A.·.

He is not linked to the A.·. A.·., although he may become so in the future. At the present, such is not the case. He has authority to work exclusively with the O.T.O. And if by chance [inaudible] with you [inaudible] that he is an initiate or representative of the A.·. A.·., he will be either fooling himself or fooling others.

Again, to the good listener, a half-word is sufficient.

However, I repeat that Grant has the right to work as Outer Head of the O.T.O., but only has the right to work with the O.T.O.

Accept my greetings for the Fall Solstice (sic) which is approaching. Answer me promptly or not as you please, by recording on the reverse side of this tape, and here I finish this missive.
